We believe in sharing the benefits of renewable energies with the communities we operate in.
The Community Benefits Sharing Program will provide significant, meaningful benefits to communities around the Thunderbolt Energy Hub.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND
We allocate funds to local community projects such as sports, clubs, tourism and heritage via a yearly grants process.
POSSIBILITY TO INVEST IN THE PROJECT
Community co-investment in renewables is common overseas and we’re excited to see it start in Australia.

NEIGHBOUR BENEFITS PROGRAM
Our neighbour benefit sharing program provides neighbours with an annual payment throughout the operations phase of the project (25-30 years).
It is based on the number of turbines within certain distances of your house.
The nearer the turbines are, the higher the amount.
EXAMPLE NEIGHBOUR PAYMENT
In this example, there are 2 wind turbines proposed within 2-2.5km from a
neighbour’s dwelling, 4 turbines between 2.5-3km and 1 turbine within 3-3.5km.
Their annual neighbour benefits payment would be: $15,000 each year
($3,000 x 2) + ($2,000 x 4) + ($1,000 x 1)
The final amount will depend on the wind turbine layout, which will be determined
following the approval of the Development Application and in the construction period.
The annual payments will begin once the project starts operating.
Please note that the program does not prevent neighbours from expressing their views
for or against the project, either privately or publicly at any time.
ECONOMIC BENEFITS
We project Stage 1 to have a capital investment of approximately $373 million.
During construction for stage 1, we estimate 190 jobs will be created with an economic boost for local accommodation and service sectors. After construction, 5-10 jobs will be created during operations of the project.
